It is a great privilege to present the fourth
empirical survey of the School of International
Arbitration, the second sponsored by
White & Case. In this survey, we explore
current and preferred practices in the arbitral
process under the following seven themes:
selection of arbitrators, organising arbitral
proceedings, interim measures and court
assistance, document production, fact and
expert witnesses, pleadings and hearings, and
the arbitral award and costs. The sheer number
of this year’s questionnaire respondents and
interviewees makes this survey the most
comprehensive empirical study ever conducted
in the field of international arbitration.
